U.S. Bankruptcy
U.S. Bankruptcy -- to many, that name invokes the process of filing for protection against debt collectors. But for some of us it also reflects the estate of the U.S. economy. I encourage you to read this article and comments in Dvorak Uncensored. As individuals as well as citizens of this country, we need to realize the seriousness of today's situation and the consequences of our personal and national actions. The sooner we realize how dire the situation is the faster we can begin making meaningful corrections at all levels.

One Laptop Per Child (OLPC)
I continue to be surprised and disappointed by Microsoft's attack on one of the most worthy global projects to come about in many years. The software giant has made great progress in destroying the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) initiative that would have given children in under-developed countries a great laptop for educational purposes. Based on Bruce Perens's report, it appears Microsoft has almost succeeded in forcing the use of Windows on even the OLPC machines. That type of vicious effort to dominate everything makes it even more important that all of us look at alternatives to Windows and other Microsoft products. Not that Windows (in general) is a bad OS (except for Windows ME and Vista) -- but because with each Microsoft victory the computer user community keeps losing ground in terms of what they can do with their machines.

Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great celebration of the start of 2008. Have you made any New Year resolutions? It is interesting to note that the ability to set goals and to dream is one of mankind's unique gifts. But most goals or dreams remain unfinished because of several reasons. The first "law" of goal-achievement is that we need to write them down. Second, experts tell us that we need to make goals specific and set a due date for their completion. Third, we need to brake each goal into smaller tasks. Fourth, and this is probably the most important ingredient, is we need to see ourselves accomplishing that goal -- even better, we need to use our imagination to feel how it would feel to fulfill that dream. Finally, we should review our goals and dreams often, visualizing them as achieved. Doing these things will greatly improve the chances of attracting success. May 2008 be the year that brings you all the happiness, health, love and success that you so richly deserve.
